Our history in the medical and dental world was born from a dental implant, it was 1998. Since then we have worked for many companies, based both in Italy and abroad.
We have therefore developed an enviable know-how in this area. For this reason, customers contact us to have our opinion starting from the design phase. This allows them to develop manufacturable products that are caractherized by: quality, functionality and reasonable costs.
Two yeasr ago, our technical department collaborated with our customer Overmed to create a dental implant. The goal of the project was to simplify the dental implant as much as possible, without compromising quality and performance.
Dental implant cost and how long a dental implant lasts
In addition, it was necessary to reduce the surgery times on the patient. The idea, which was much appreciated by the customer, was to match the dental implant to its MUA abutment, in various angles. But let’s take a step back for the layman.
How is a complete dental implant on which the single or complete prostheses will be fixed made?
In its simplest form, a dental implant looks like the ones in the image.
They can differ in the type of thread, length, diameter, etc …
This type of dental implant needs an additional component in the upper part, which is called abutment and which acts as a connection between the implant and the dental prosthesis. the use of Multi Unit Abutments (MUA) is widely used among the prosthetic solutions for the rehabilitation of full or semi-arches.
These components require a screw to be securely fixed to the dental implant.
The MUA abutments and their screw therefore represent two more components to be manufactured, and to be used by the doctor.
This increases the costs of the complete dental implant and the time for the surgical procedure.
We can’t underestimate the fact that, in the same component, there must be two holes (one to fix the MUA abutment to the dental implant, and one to fix the prosthesis to the abutment itself). This means that both screws have a small diameter
Starting from the above considerations, our technical department and the customer’s R&D department have developed an innovative product under various aspects: reduction of components and increase in the size of the fixing screw for prostheses.
After several months of study and laboratory tests to verify its mechanical resistance to fatigue, the result is the dental implant that you can see in the image below.
As you can see, with this solution, the MUA abutments are now an integral part of the dental implant. Three versions of the system have been created with different angles: 0 °, 15 ° and 30 °.
This solution, in addition to simplifying, has also improved aspects that can’t be seen from the image. The first, as previously mentioned, is the increase in the diameter of the fixing screw of the prostheses. A larger diameter, as can be easily understood, means greater mechanical resistance and less chance of breakage.
The second advantage, much appreciated by implantologists, is linked to the speed of intervention and the simplicity in the prosthetic finalization.
Sometimes, innovation is achieved by simplifying.
